Nick Roach joins the Rath Pack

Rath Trombones has welcomed Chicagoland-based trombonist, Nick Roach, to its growing roster of Artists.

Nick is originally from the Dallas/Forth Worth area of Texas and is in demand as a composer, arranger, educator and performer.

As a trombonist and singer, Nick has had the privilege of recording and performing with many respected musicians of different genres, such as Arthur Barrow (Frank Zappa), The Glenn Miller Orchestra, The Harry James Orchestra, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Heritage Jazz Orchestra, East Hubbard Jazz Orchestra, Guy King, Robert Irving III, Ari Brown, Ray Olan y su Nuevo Sason, Salsa del Norte, Dee Alexander, Sal Lozano, Nicholas White, Jacob Slocum, as well as the Chicago Philharmonic, Chicago Choral Artists, Chicago Freedom Ensemble, Chicago Jazz Orchestra and the Chicago Composers’ Big Band.

Nick commented: “I’m excited and delighted to work with Rath. I’ve loved my horn ever since I got it and I think Rath makes the finest slides I’ve ever used. I’m very particular about a smooth slide and I’ve never had any issues with my horn whatsoever.

"It gives me the warm sound I’m looking for with the versatility and projection to play lead in a big band or salsa, weddings, and so on. I look forward to growing this relationship.”

As a composer and arranger, Nick has written for groups of various sizes and genres, including writing for his own ensembles as well as receiving commissions to write for big bands and combos in Illinois and Texas.

Nick holds a Master of Music in Jazz Studies from Northern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Trombone Performance from the University of North Texas.

Nick Roach plays a dual-bore Rath R2 with a gold/rose bell, yellow brass tuning slide and nickel hand-slide.
