Dennis Kurun Camilleri joins the Rath Pack

Rath Trombones has announced that Dennis Kurun Camilleri has joined its flourishing roster of Artists.

Dennis, widely known as Kurun, has held the position of sub-principal trombone in the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra since 2000.

Commenting on his new position as a Rath Artist, Dennis said: “I’ve been playing Rath Trombones since 2000. From the very first moment I tried several Rath trombones at the workshop, I knew my search was over.

“I love the sound of my R4; it has a warm, rich tone that is vibrant across all registers. The incredible response and flexibility make it much easier for me to play. It’s my ideal setup for any orchestral or large wind band performance.”

Dennis added: “Beyond the high-quality custom trombones, Mick [Rath] provides immediate support, which is one of the most important aspects for me. The craftsmanship of Rath Trombones is top-notch. Mick offers different setups tailored to every musical situation. It simply doesn’t get any better.”

In 1994, Dennis graduated from the London College of Music with an LLCM in baritone performance. Two years later, in 1996, he earned the prestigious FLCM from the same institution. His dedication to his craft led him to further success, and in 1997, he obtained the FTCL from Trinity College of Music.

In 2005, he achieved another milestone by earning the LRSM from the Royal Schools of Music, this time in trombone performance. Later, in 2016, Dennis successfully achieved the teacher’s warrant.

As a baritone soloist, Kurun has performed in numerous recitals with piano accompaniment.

He is a member of the International Trombone Association (ITA) and has attended the International Trombone Festival (ITF) in Birmingham, where he had the opportunity to meet and collaborate with many world-renowned trombonists.

Dennis remains also an active participant in the music scene, performing with various local wind and big bands.

Dennis has spent years experimenting with hundreds of different mouthpieces, acquiring extensive knowledge in the field. His collaboration with Gilbert resulted in the creation of the renowned K&G Mouthpieces, a brand that has since become one of the leading names worldwide.
