Busy weekend for Black Dyke at Swiss Open concert

A busy but enjoyable weekend was had by Black Dyke Band recently, as it gave a prestigious performance in Switzerland.

The band - including its trombone section of Rath Artists Adam Warburton, Garry Reed and Adam Reed - travelled to play at the gala concert of the Swiss Open Brass Band Championships in Lucerne.

A packed audience gave the Queensbury band, which was conducted by music director Professor Nicholas Childs, two standing ovations.

Prior to the evening concert, Black Dyke also played in a radio broadcast as part of the World Band Festival.

Reflecting on the weekend, Black Dyke principal trombonist Adam Warburton said: "We thoroughly enjoyed returning to Switzerland to perform at the Swiss Open gala concert. The atmosphere in the hall was terrific, and it was an honour to receive the two standing ovations from the fantastic audience."
