Dutch Bass Trombone Open

Mark Frost will be one of the guest artists appearing at this year's Dutch Bass Trombone Open. DBTO logoThe DBTO is a three day residential course running from Friday 5th to Sunday 7th September and will be held in the picturesque 17th century castle of Oud-Poelgeest in Holland. The DBTO features performances, masterclasses, ensembles and other bass trombone events where Mark will be alongside Douglas Yeo, Phil Teele and Ben van Dijk. The DBTO is aimed at all bass trombonists regardless of age or ability - it's really an event that everyone can take part in, enjoy and learn an enormous amount about the bass trombone.

The DBTO was based on an idea of three of Holland's leading bass trombone players - Marcel Schot, Erwin Dijkstra and Bert Damsma. Oud-Poelgeest CastleThey set up and ran the first DBTO in 2006 when it featured Csaba Wagner, Bil Reichenbach and Ben van Dijk. The course was so successful that a second DBTO was inevitable. Marcel really sums it all up in the DBTO's slogan: "No tenor trombones will be used, permitted, harmed or damaged in any way during this event!"

You can find out more about the DBTO and register for the event at the DBTO website, www.dbto.nl.
