Valves

We have a number of different valve options for tenor and bass trombonists. All players have the choice of either Hagmann or Greenhoe valve sections, and for the bass trombonist we have independant and dependant valve configurations.

Both our Hagmann and Greenhoe valve sections are designed to replicate the open feel of the striaght trombones, so that there is little or no perceptible difference between the open and valved sides of the instrument, either in sound or response.

For Hagmann valves we also have heavy valves caps, which aid projection and focus.

Players looking for a more focused valve register (but one that still feels open) will generally prefer a Greenhoe valve section, whilst Hagmann valves have a more expansive response.

On some instrument setups, the Greenhoe valve section can aid projection resulting in a sound that feels bigger to players.

However, which each different valve offering its own set of unique charateristics, selection of a valve section is very much down to the individual player's sound concept and personal preference.

Both the Hagmann and Greenhoe valve sections are relatively straightforward and easy to maintain; more information can be found online.
