The majority of our instruments are finished in clear lacquer which is purposely applied as a thin coat. During testing we have found that applying thicker coats of lacquer "deadens" the instrument, leading it to be unresponsive and dull. Despite only having a thin coat of lacquer, proper care and maintenance will keep the instrument looking at its best.
Other finishes are available, including raw brass, silver plate and brushed lacquer. These can be applied to individual parts or to the complete instrument, giving a player the opportunity to create a unique "look" for their instrument.
